Works well for a horse moving out of a snaffle that needs some correction but has a soft mouth. Western shank bit from the Tom Balding Baseline collection is hand crafted using sweet iron (steel) with an attractive satin finish. The Double Cross mouthpiece combined with the 6 3/4" shanks makes a nice bit to prepare a horse for the bridle. The Double Cross mouthpiece is double jointed with a flat, longer center link that adds tongue pressure. The addition of copper rollers encourages salivation to keep the bit functioning properly and increase bit acceptance. Tom Balding Short Shank Double Cross Bit is sized at 5 1/8" to fit most horses and has comfortable no-pinch bit ends.
