Fager Bits USA is the American distributor of Fager Bits, an innovative bit designer and manufacturer in Sweden. Well known in Europe, Fager bits are gaining fans in the U.S. and Mary's Tack is proud to carry them in our Del Mar store and online. The first goal of Fager bits is to create a bit that works in synergy with equine anatomy. Fager consults with veterinarians to design bits for the modern horse, taking into account pressure points, the shape of the mouth, the effect of the bit on tongue and bars, and desired performance for the horse and rider team.
Fager bits are made by hand in high quality steel, sweet iron, and surgical titanium. Fager bits are thinner than many mouthpieces and have short center pieces for the double jointed versions. This takes up less room in the horse's mouth and prevents damage to the bars and palate from uneven pressure and friction. Fager bits allow quicker responses to the rider's aids and better connection and bit acceptance. Titanium is an excellent bit material that is extremely lightweight, hypoallergenic, and durable. Fager uses a unique process called Anoblast on many of its titanium bits. Anoblast gives the titanium a very smooth, durable finish in an attractive matte grey. The mouthpiece has no metal taste and is warm to the touch.
Fager Bits at Mary's include single jointed bits and double jointed mouthpieces with a choice of patented Baby Fulmer Cheeks, Baby Fulmer Cheeks with Universal rings, Fixed Rings, and Loose Rings. Mary's also has Fager Weymouth and bradoon, or bridoon, bits for dressage. Many styles of horse bits from Fager are USEF and FEI dressage legal.
