Myler Medium Wide Ported Barrel MB 33 Dee with Hooks - Level 3

The Myler Ported Barrel Dee with Hooks has the mild MB33 mouthpiece with generous wide port that allows maximum room for the tongue. The design uses pressure on the lips and bars and avoids pressure on the tongue and palate. The 1.5" high port does not roll down onto the tongue when reins are engaged. Since this Myler Ported Barrel Bit offers a lot of tongue relief, the horse should be well schooled in working off the leg, seat, and hands and have a reliable disposition.

  • MB 33 Mouth
  • Independent Side Movement
  • Stainless Steel Mouthpiece with copper inlay
  • Size: 3 3/4" dee on 5" and 5 1/2" mouthpiece, 3" dee on 4 1/2" mouthpiece
  • NOT Dressage Legal

The Ported Barrel MB 33 bit has the newer Myler dees with hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook keeps the bit in a stable position and allows the rider to lift the cheek with Independent Side Movement. The small hook does not increase leverage but enables indirect action. If the rein is attached directly on the dee ring, the rein action is direct and leverage is increased. Myler recommends adding a Myler curb strap kit to their ported mouthpieces. This bit is eligible for Mary's Bit Rental Program. Click now for details!

    Love this bit!

Got this for my sensitive OTTB who likes to evade behind the bit, or sticks his tongue out because of an old dental issue (long solved, but some behavioral markers remain). Wanted something super soft, as he’s already very responsive to my leg and seat. I love this! The port takes pressure off the tongue, and in our 5 rides, he has not ducked behind the vertical once. Helpful in lifting his shoulders around tighter turns as well. I’ve used it on another OTTB who’s extremely heavy on the forehand and very trippy, and it’s been a godsend. Helps him stay upright without any harshness and he’s much more relaxed. I’d recommend this for well trained horses, not greenies. Love it!
