Mikmar D-Ring Snaffle Bit

The Mikmar D-Ring Snaffle Bit combines features of the classic D-Ring style bit and the Mikmar double-jointed slanted low port mouthpiece to create a bit that works well for pleasure riding or the show ring. Featuring a lightweight, wide mouthpiece with a low port and a copper roller, the Mikmar Dee Snaffle supports lateral and vertical flexion and encourages your horse to carry his head properly.

Available sizes: 5, 5.25, 5.5.

The original Mikmar Training Bit was invented in the early 50's by all-around horseman, Trainer Frank Evans. Evans created an all-around bit for everyday use by amateur riders and professionals that would put pressure on the most responsive pressure points while maintaining a soft, fresh mouth over time. In addition, the Mikmar Training Bit proved a great transition bit from a snaffle to a shank or leveraged bit. Most satisfying to Evans was the fact that the Mikmar Bit protects the horse's mouth when a new rider learns to ride. From these early beginnings, the Mikmar Bit line has grown in scope and popularity to encompass a wide range of bits for suitable for all riding disciplines and available at Mary's Tack.

This Mikmar bit is eligible for Mary's Bit Rental Program. Click now for details!

    Love

I love this bit. I needed something in between a snaffle and a Pelham for a heavy warm blood that likes to play with the bit. This gives us the leverage we need without being harsh.

All my horses love this bit!

This bit has been a game changer on a lot of my horses! Although it appears to be big and heavy it is actually a very lightweight bit. It sits soooo comfortably in the horse's mouth where it doesn't put too much pressure on the palate, tongue or bars of the mouth. The copper roller in the middle is great for them to play with and encourage salvation. All of my horses have been super soft and light to the hand with this bit, not to mention extremely happy!
