Mikmar Watson Gagavator Long Shank
Mikmar Watson Gagavator Long Shank Bit is a unique combination western bit designed by Richard Watson. The Gagavator from Mikmar combines the effects of a gag and an elevator bit with stronger pressure at the poll and very good control. The longer leverage shanks allow a quicker action for picking up and releasing, giving the horse a clear and precise signal. The Watson Gagavator Bit has proven popular for barrel racing and gymkhana as it facilitates lifting shoulders and a lighter feel on the front. It also helps encourage the horse to develop bend, collection and flexibility. This bit produces more poll pressure than a typical 2-ring or 3-ring style bit.
Mikmar's unique Gagavator western bit also helps prevent leaning and pulling from a strong horse, and encourages quicker responses to a half halt and maintaining pace. The combination action of the gag + elevator is useful when teaching the horse to transfer weight to the hind quarters and to get underneath himself for turns. The Gagavator has a linked mouthpiece made of sweet iron that encourages salivation and softness and soothes a busy mouth. Mikmar recommends the use of a leather curb strap for better bit stability.
