AMERICAN EQUUS
David Shano founded American Equus after setting out to create the ideal stirrup specifically for his daughter, Chloe. David was concerned that then-14 year old Chloe had trouble keeping her stirrups, especially when she moved up from a pony to a horse. David's problem solving ability and background in design and machining were the ideal skills to apply to stirrups!
After plenty of trial and error and perfecting the design, David Shano had created a stirrup that kept Chloe's foot in place as well as improved her body alignment. Other riders noticed and wanted the stirrups, too. American Equus grew even larger when David was encouraged to create a stirrup iron for horse racing. The Thoroughbred Racing Icon with traction pins became very popular, counting Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith among its fans.
