5 Star Saddle Pad Cleaner in convenient spray bottle is easy to use in two ways. Whether you are doing a basic cleaning or a deep soak, first use a rubber curry (not metal) or a 5 Star Equine cleaning sponge to remove excess hair. For cleaning, spray the underside of the pad until it's wet and allow to soak in for 30 minutes. You'll see dirt, crust, and hair at the surface, which can be brushed away. Next, using gentle pressure with a hose, rinse at an angle from the middle of the pad toward the edges until the water runs clear. Do not spray directly into the pad, only at an angle. Allow it to air dry.
For a thorough cleaning of a very dirty pad, find a shallow tub that's large enough to lay down the pad so all of it will be submerged. (You can even try a heavy duty garbage bag). Mix 6-8 oz of 5 Star Saddle Pad Cleaner & Soak with 1 gallon of warm water. Submerge the pad and let it soak 8-10 hours. Periodically work the solution into the pad fibers for best result.
