SIXTEEN CYPRESS
Sixteen Cypress may be a relatively new brand in the horse world, but it is steeped in tradition and the allure of equestrian classics. Founder Emily Factor draws from her own past and blends natural elements, a sense of nostalgia, and specific inspirations. How specific? Try the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center circa 1940-1970! A collective memory of show jumping, fox hunting, and evening polo matches adds depth and wistfulness to the sophisticated, elegant aesthetic.
Emily grew up in Carmel, California, and earned a BA in Fashion and Textile Print from Central Saint Martins in London. A passionate equestrian, Emily couldn't help but view barn life with the eyes of a fashion designer. Her knowledge of horses and textile design dovetailed perfectly into Sixteen Cypress. The brand name and logo refer to her childhood home on 16th Avenue and the beautiful Monterey Cypress trees. Emily wanted to create authentic, lasting products with classic style to complement the horse, rider, and tack.
Emily chose vintage and classic fabrics, colors, and patterns as the design basis for quilted saddle pads, polo wraps, and ultimately ear nets, brushing boots, bell boots, riding gloves, and more. Sixteen Cypress uses quality materials, eco-friendly digital printing, and skilled workers, mostly in the USA. The result is products for horse and rider that are durable, functional, and unique. Emily excels at using a neutral palette and adding trims and accents that finish the design perfectly.
Mary's Tack is proud to offer Sixteen Cypress equestrian products to our customers and support a woman-owned small business. That's how Mary's Tack started, too!
