Mikmar Flexion Combination Bit Straight Mouth
Mikmar Flexion Combination Bit with Straight Mouthpiece is similar to the original Mikmar Combination Bit but has independent swivel cheeks that help lift and frame the horse. The straight mouthpiece is a slanted version of the original Mikmar with a low port. This bit gives good leverage and a solid feel but is softer than the original Mikmar style. Horses who toss their head, pull hard, root, or exhibit defensive and nervous behaviors can do well with the Mikmar Flexion Combo. The horse is encouraged to develop proper head carriage, lateral flexion, vertical flexion, collection, and relaxation. The Flexion Combination Bit is versatile with options for leverage and function. A single rein can be attached to either the nose rope, the lower part of the shank, or the shank right by the mouth. With double reins, you can attach reins in combination to any of the 3 areas.
A rein attached to the nose rope will put mild pressure across the nose and relieve pressure from the mouth and soften the feel of the bit. The nose rope will also slow the action of the bit and disperse pressure to the nose, mouth, chin and poll. A rein on the lower shank adds more direct leverage while attaching a rein to the shank at the mouth gives milder direct pressure. When reins are attached to the shank, nose pressure is eliminated. It is not necessary to remove the nose rope as it will stay in place on its own. This versatile Mikmar bit is popular for endurance, jumping, gaited horses, barrel racing, and general training and riding.
