A bit of general information and background about Mikmar bits:

The original Mikmar Training Bit was invented back in the early 50's by all-around horseman, Trainer Frank Evans. Evans created an all-around bit for everyday use by amateur riders and professionals that would put pressure on the most responsive pressure points while maintaining a soft, fresh mouth over time. In addition, the Mikmar Training Bit proved a great transition bit from a snaffle to a shank or leveraged bit. Most satisfying to Evans was the fact that the Mikmar Bit protects the horse's mouth when a new rider learns to ride.
