The top rein is the snaffle rein to enact pressure on the tongue, palate, and mouth corners. The bottom rein is the curb rein to increase leverage and add chin pressure with the curb chain.

The Korsteel Rubber Tom Thumb Pelham for ponieshas a thicker mouthpiece that disperses pressure and is softer on the bars and mouth corners. The Tom Thumb cheek is shorter than a regular Pelham so there is less leverage. Due to the materials used on the mouthpiece, the Pony Korsteel Rubber Tom Thumb Pelham is not available for the Mary's Bit Rental program.
