Breyer Surfer's Riptide Chincoteague Pony
Breyer Surfer's Riptide Chincoteague Pony is a model of the 2009 flaxen chestnut stallion who lives on Assateague Island. The Chincoteague Ponies gained fame with Marguerite Henry's classic story Misty of Chincoteague. The legend and the love has only grown over the years. Every year for the past 100 years, the feral ponies on Assateague Island are rounded up by local "saltwater cowboys." They are swum to Chincoteague Island for the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company’s foal auction, a fundraiser for the CVFC, who owns and cares for the herd.

Surfer's Riptide was a "buyback" foal, auctioned with the stipulation that he was to be donated back to the herd. He’s since sired many foals, including a few that can be traced back to Misty! Fun fact, one of our beloved Mary's employees became so enchanted with Chincoteague, she moved there and joined the Chincoteague Pony Drill Team! She even owns a Riptide foal <3 We miss you, Sydney!
