Cashel takes its name from the Irish castle, cathedral, and archaeological site at the Rock of Cashel. The Cashel Company started in 1986 with its premier product, an innovative therapeutic English saddle pad. Originally focusing on English horses in the competitive worlds of show jumping, dressage, and racing, Cashel saddle pads used cutting edge materials and design. Cashel became widely known for its cushion pad that successfully relieved the sore backs of performance horses.
The Cashel Company then set its sights on improving the comfort and performance of Western horses. At the time, many riders used basic traditional pads under their Western saddles. These pads didn't offer the cushioning and support that many horses require. Cashel designed therapeutic Western saddle pads using the techniques, materials, and knowledge acquired through the years of manufacturing their English pads. From there, Cashel broadened its range to include a wide array of equestrian products designed to meet the unique needs of horse owners and riders.
