Breyer Cheryl White Jockey, Horse, Book Set
The new Breyer Cheryl White Jockey, Horse and Book Set celebrates the remarkable of story of the first Black female jockey in America. This set includes a book inspired by Cheryl White, a poseable rider figure of Cheryl, and equine model of her chestnut Thoroughbred. The fiction novel The Jockey and Her Horse was written by Cheryl's brother, Raymond White Jr., and Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Maslin Nir.

On September 3, 1971, at Waterford Park in West Virginia, Cheryl White became the first Black female jockey to win a race in the United States. She was only 17 years old. She rode Jetolara, who was bred and trained by her father, Raymond. Cheryl won more than 750 races in her career. Cheryl was also an outstanding student who was active in many school clubs and teams.
